This trial took place at Kingston Crown Court in 2011. Four co-defendants were tried with public order offences related to the anti-education cuts demonstrations in central London the previous year.
Two were acquitted, but the remaining two were re-tried the following year at Woolwich Crown Court. The trial moved to the highest security courtroom at Woolwich whose public gallery looked down onto the court through plate glass, presumably bullet proof…
This trial was aborted, partly due to illness but mainly because the the court clerk shredded the jury’s notes; he had misinterpreted the judge’s frustration at delays.
At the third trial the two defendants were unanimously acquitted.
